Labour market information system

01 Objective

The objective of the project was to develop a LMIS that meets the following requirements:

  • The LMIS should have a user-friendly and interactive web interface that allows users to access and visualize various indicators and dimensions of labor markets, such as employment, unemployment, wages, productivity, skills, working conditions, etc.
  • The LMIS should allow users to compare and contrast labor market data across countries, regions, sectors, occupations, gender, age groups, etc.
  • The LMIS should provide users with analytical reports and dashboards that highlight key labor market challenges and opportunities, such as skills gaps, labor demand and supply, labor mobility, informality, etc.
  • The LMIS should enable users to download and export data and charts in various formats, such as Excel, PDF, PNG, etc.
  • The LMIS should have a secure and robust data management system that ensures the quality, consistency and timeliness of data sources from various national and international organizations.

02 The Solution

With the combination of Australia and Indian team expertise within the data analytics and visualization we were able to propose couple of solutions to match the requirement. We used the following technologies and tools to develop the LMIS:

  • Power BI as the main platform for data integration, transformation, modeling and visualization
  • SSIS integration with SQL Server 18 for saving/updating data in database
  • SSIS integration with Visual Studio 2019 for packages logic

We followed agile methodology to ensure timely delivery and quality assurance of the project. We divided the project into several sprints, each with a set of features and functionalities. We communicated with the client regularly to get feedback and approval on each sprint. We also performed testing and debugging on each sprint to ensure optimal performance and security of the LMIS.

03 The Outcome

The outcome of the project was a successful launch of LMIS. The LMIS received positive feedback from both internal and external users for its design, functionality and usability. The LMIS helped the state achieve its mission of providing evidence-based policy advice and technical assistance to its member states on labor market issues.
